Job reference

Frank Rommerskirchen, born on 22.10.1967, has been working for DAS DA THEATER since 1999 as a stage and costume designer and set designer. From the initial freelance work he changed to a permanent position at our theatre in 2006. Due to his change of residence to Hamburg, he has been freelancing at our house again since 2016.

As the largest professional private theatre in the StädteRegion Aachen, DAS DA THEATER has been staging six productions for adults and four plays for children every year since 1987. The range of plays, musical productions, theatre dinners and open-air events is supplemented by guest events such as concerts and cabaret evenings. The aim of every production is to make the audience think and empathise. Around founder and theatre director Tom Hirtz, a total of 40 permanent employees and around 30 freelancers on stage and behind the scenes realise around 1,200 events a year in the theatre itself, in external venues as well as mobile events in day-care centres and schools.

Frank Rommerskirchen is responsible for the set design in general and the stage and costume design in particular for all DAS DA THEATER productions. In doing so, he convinces time and again with very creative and unusual ideas: Frank Rommerskirchen manages to rethink plays, their stories and characters in order to create unique thematic worlds. That is why he also participates in productions as an author time and again. At the same time, he succeeds in breaking down complex issues to a level that is easy for the audience to understand. It is particularly helpful that he can also visualise his concepts for stage, costumes and sets in a meaningful and very vivid way. In this way, his own formal language, which we greatly appreciate, and his special understanding of art become tangible core elements of the production for all those involved. His ideas are always solution-oriented and are created with the utmost care and to the complete satisfaction of the artistic director. In addition, he is a competent and helpful contact person for our stage builders, set designers and costume designers at all times during the entire production - from the idea to the concrete realisation to the completion. The effective cooperation between him as an idea-finder and the executing staff is always at eye level and characterised by good teamwork and a high level of communication skills on the part of Frank Rommerskirchen.

Frank Rommerskirchen is able to criticise himself and others and always behaves professionally and loyally towards the management, the artistic direction and the rest of the DAS DA team. Even in stressful times he is able to work under pressure, reacts flexibly to possible changes and always keeps to the given cost and time schedule of a production. His high degree of initiative, his great organisational talent and his unusual approach to challenging tasks are highly appreciated by the artistic direction. Frank Rommerskirchen possesses excellent professional skills and knowledge, a quick grasp of things and confident judgement.

We are pleased to continue to have him as a motivated, reliable and creative head at our theatre and would be happy to recommend him as an employee at any time.
